Charleston 2017

May 1-17, 2017

This was a work trip so I had limited time during the day to explore. I will be posting groups of photos of the charming city of Charleston.

This is how everything looked in Charleston, charming and colorful. How could you not be happy here? It is even called “Rainbow Row’

One thing that you will notice through the city of Charleston is the way they decorate their doors. I’m sure it is a competition because every house had a wreath or a giant bouquet of flowers covering its boldly colored doors.

To go along with their exquisite doors they also have the most joyful colored homes and shops. A blend of European architecture mixed with southern colors.

More beautiful buildings.

A lot of lush gardens stuffed with colorful flowers every direction you turn. There is even a giant park right off of the water that people were having a picnic in.

Taco Boy wasn’t only cute but they already had really good Mexican food with great service.
Fuel Charleston had a live band outside with a Caribbean flair.

Callie’s Hot Little Biscuit was the talk of the town and on the Local food list of things to try, so that I did, and it was worth eating over and over again. This small shop was located in the Historic City Market and had many options of their soft gooey biscuits.

The Charleston Historic City Market has plenty of shops to entertain you for over an hour. Plus, there are so many food options so do not fill up on one place alone. The market covers four blocks and is over 200 years old. It is such a staple in the Historic Downtown that you can ride a horse and carriage around.

Wow, Wow, Wow… Stop at Leon’s to be Wowed. It is an oyster bar, but they serve up some mouth-watering southern food you can’t find anywhere else.

The picture in the middle I was unable to find any information on but you can find the location in the Historic City of Charleston at Philadelphia Alley and Queen Street. If you know what it is please inform me. I believe it is part of old ship docking poles but unsure.

Don’t forget to stop by the Iconic pineapple fountain when in Liberty Square.

My favorite place I ate (among the many) was Huriyali where they serve coffee and killer acai smoothie bowls. On a warm southern day, it was the perfect brunch. There is a garden in the back where they grow everything fresh and you can eat and relax in.

A couple of other honorable mentions on food options are Glazed Gourmet Donuts and their fun menu of donuts that melt in your mouth and for dinner, Harolds Cabin (don’t let the name fool you).

When you leave Charleston you pass over the Arthur Ravenel Jr Bridge, the third largest cable bridge in the US.
